A video has recently been trending on social media, showing a mother-in-law (MIL) welcoming her plastic surgeon daughter-in-law and performing aarti as she completes a 50-hour shift. This has sparked mixed reactions among netizens online. Dr Saumya Gupta was seen arriving home, where her MIL welcomed her with aarti.

After an exhausting 50-hour shift, a plastic surgeon was welcomed home by her mother-in-law with an aarti. The moment since then has gone viral on the internet, which turned emotional as Gupta was seen bending down to touch her MIL’s feet and seek her blessings. At the beginning of the video, the mother-in-law says, “Bade bhaaghamare, johamareghar tum padhare.” Responding to the gesture, Gupta says, “Thank you, mummy. Bhagwanmujhesadhbuddhi de. Ghar me aurwaqtbitanekasamay de.” The MIL then adds, “Bhaisaab, aisibahudekhitumne? Jo char char din me ghar me aavehai. Hamarakyasukhhaiisey?” The caption of the post reads, “Itni late entry kebaad… Aapkokyalgtahai?”

Amid the backlash on the video, Gupta’s husband Dr Shagun Agarwal wrote, “To all those people criticising my mother i can understand you might not have an experience of such positivity in family so you are not able to to see one here! And to the people talking about she is doing for money ….my mother has a rental income faar more than me and wife’s salary combined. And to all the feminists here talking about kaisisaashai just to let you all no she makes sure driver goes to hospital every morning and evening so that she can have hot food in hospital every day! And for saumya she is the best daughter in law one can ever imagine!”
