Trending: Ghaziabad woman shares Rapido driver’s inappropriate messages

A woman from Ghaziabad shared screenshots of the driver’s inappropriate messages to her; the company reacts.

A video has recently been trending on social media platforms, where a Ghaziabad woman shared a video about getting inappropriate messages from a Rapido driver. She shared the conversation between her and the driver, allegedly initiated by the Rapido bike driver who had dropped her.

Rapido has reacted after a woman in Ghaziabad alleged that a bike taxi rider sent her inappropriate messages after completing a trip. In a post on Instagram, Anushka shared screenshots of the messages along with a short clip of her ride for that particular day. The clip began with the caption, “Rapido bike book karletihoon, kya hi hojaayega (I’ll just book a Rapido bike, what could go wrong),” followed by, “Hogaya (Well, this happened).” She then shared screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation allegedly initiated by the driver who had dropped her.

In the messages, the man wrote, “Pehchaananahi? Abhitoh drop karkeaayahoon (Didn’t recognize me? I just dropped you).” When Anushka asked if he was the Rapido rider, he confirmed and went on to compliment her appearance, saying she looked “cute” and “traditional meinachchi lag rahithi (you looked nice in traditional clothes).” He also asked her age, whether she lived alone, and suggested meeting her at 4 pm the next day. Soon after receiving these messages, Anushka blocked the driver.

Rapido reacts to the viral video.

Reacting to the viral video, Rapido responded to the same. The company issued a public apology, calling the driver’s conduct “unethical” and “completely unacceptable.” It wrote, “Hi, we sincerely apologize for the captain’s unethical behvior. This is completely unacceptable and does not reflect the service standards we aim to provide. Please share your registered mobile number and ride ID via DM so we can investigate this on priority and take strict necessary action.”
