He revealed why he isn’t directing Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2, which will release in theatres on August 14, 2026.

Filmmaker MohitSuri recently opened up about why he didn’t direct Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi. The director said that he was never offered Awarapan 2, which is set to release in theatres on August 14, 2026. Emraan will return in the lead role, after the 2007-released Awarapan received much love from the audiences in theatres.

MohitSuri reveals why he didn’t direct Awarapan 2.

Emraan Hashmi and Shriya Saran-starrer cult-classic film Awarapan, released in 2007 under Vishesh Films, was directed by MohitSuri. The makers, after 19 years, will release the sequel to the film in August this year, titled Awarapan 2, where Emraan will again play the lead. However, the sequel isn’t directed by MohitSuri but by Nitin Kakkar. Revealing about the same, MohitSuri said, “I was never actually offered it before, that’s all. I think they wanted to work, but it’s not that. I would work with Emraan at the drop of a hat. The problem with him is that I’ve done eight films with him. He knows me so well. I have to give him a role; I can’t just hustle him into doing some part. But I think it will be more beneficial for me than for him.”

MohitSuri reacts to the famous ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ dialogue about Emraan Hashmi.

In the Aryan Khan-directed Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, RaghavJuyal’s character says a dialogue, “Akkha Bollywood ektarafaurEmraan Hashmi ektaraf” (Entire Bollywood one side and Emraan Hashmi on one side), which had even gone viral. Reacting to the same, Mohit said, “That scene was kickass. I think what Raghav was actually doing is what I’ve accomplished all my life. It just happened 20 years later; it’s exactly that only. Emraan is my elder brother. We actually grew up together watching the same films. That’s how I think we got educated in the kind of sensitivity, the kind of films we like, the music we like. And in the end, he was my first hero and my hero for eight films. So I’m the one who can actually say that puri industry ektaraf and Emraanbhaiektaraf.”

MohitSuri made his directorial debut with Zeher (2005), which starred Emraan in the lead. He went on to make several films with him, many of which were box office successes, including Murder 2, Awarapan, and Raaz: The Mystery Continues.
