An employee of a food delivery company has been accused of stealing a tap from a public water kiosk at a temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district. The incident was captured on camera at DivyaBalajiDham in the Kotwali area of Hapur. The temple administration had set up a free cold drinking water facility for devotees and pedestrians at the Ganga-JamunaSiddhpeeth complex. The arrangement for the free drinking water was meant to provide relief during the intense summer heat and was running as a public service initiative for visitors.

As per the temple authorities, a Zomato employee allegedly removed a water tap installed at the public service point. The act was recorded on CCTV footage installed at the site. Expressing strong displeasure, temple Mahant Acharya Yashvardhan called the incident unacceptable. He said such incidents hinder the provision of religious and public welfare services for the public. The temple administration has urged authorities to conduct a fair investigation and take strict legal action against those involved. Despite the incident, the temple management stated that public service activities, including the free drinking water facility, will continue as usual and will not be halted.
