The actor and politician called out online criticism of Aishwarya’s Cannes appearances, while praising her confidence and individuality.
AishwaryaRaiBachchan, as every year, has been taking over the Cannes Film Festival with her incredible looks. However, a section of the audience was quick to troll the global star for her looks. Giving it back to them was actor and politician KanganaRanaut, who called out the trolls for slamming Aishwarya for her Cannes looks.
KanganaRanaut gives a strong response to those trolling AishwaryaRai.
Taking to Instagram Stories, KanganaRanaut expressed her disappointment over the criticism directed at Aishwarya and defended her right to present herself however she chooses. “Fashion and style is self-expression. It is one’s own interpretation of life and attitude. No woman owes anything to anyone,” Kangana wrote. She further added, “Ash looks great! Those of you who want to see her any other way, why don’t you show what you got?” In another strongly worded statement, Kangana addressed age-related criticism often faced by women in the entertainment industry. “She is not here to please you. She is glorious. If you are not used to seeing older women on red carpets, get used to them now,” she wrote. Her comments quickly gained attention online, with many users appreciating her for speaking up against the constant scrutiny women, especially actresses, face over their looks and aging.
AishwaryaRai’s Cannes 2026 fashion moments.
AishwaryaRaiBachchan, who has represented L’Oréal Paris at Cannes since 2003 as a global ambassador, showcased several striking looks during this year’s festival. One of her most talked-about appearances was a sculptural blue couture gown designed by Amit Aggarwal. The outfit, titled Luminara, was inspired by the idea of light in motion and featured intricate structural detailing symbolising movement and energy. She completed the dramatic look with a shimmering dupatta, diamond jewellery featuring blue stones, soft curls, and her signature bold red lipstick. Later, for the “Lights On Women’s Worth” event, Aishwarya changed into a soft pastel pink gownby Sophie Couture, featuring floral embellishments and a flowing cape that added elegance to the look. For the festival’s closing ceremony, she embraced a bold monochrome statement in a layered white tuxedo-inspired ensemble with feathered detailing and voluminous curls, another look that sparked widespread discussion online.
Apart from Aishwarya’s fashion choices, her daughter AaradhyaBachchan also became one of the biggest talking points of the festival. Aaradhya made her red carpet debut alongside her mother during a glamorous event at Cannes, instantly capturing attention online. Dressed in a ruby-red gown paired with a matching cape, Aaradhya’s poised appearance drew praise from fans, many of whom called it a memorable mother-daughter moment.
