After a breakout year from the New York subway to Chanel, Bhavitha’s journey has just begun, and is everything extraordinary.
If one name has made the headlines the most this year in the world of global fashion, it is BhavithaMandava, who was living the life of a typical student in New York City and is now Chanel’s Indian brand ambassador. She has now made it to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia List, making her name more prominent globally.
From a newcomer to becoming Chanel’s breakout star.
The 26-year-old model from Hyderabad has been featured in the Arts category of Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2026, which celebrates young innovators, creators and entrepreneurs shaping the future across the Asia-Pacific region. In October 2024, during what seemed like an ordinary ride on the New York subway, she was spotted by a modelling scout. That chance encounter led her to the world of fashion. In December 2025, Mandava achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian model to openChanel’s prestigious Métiersd’Art collection. Earlier this year, she was officially named a Chanel house ambassador, a role reserved for a select group of personalities who embody the brand’s vision and global appeal.
Making it in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia List.
Mandava is among a strong group of Indian achievers featured on this year’s Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list. Also recognised in the Arts category was VarshneBalaji, founder of sustainable menswear brand CRCLE. Selected from nearly 4,000 nominations across the Asia-Pacific region, the 2026 list features honourees from 18 countries and territories. India led the rankings with 78 individuals making the final cut. Another major milestone arrived in May when Mandava made her debut at the famed Met Gala in New York. Widely regarded as fashion’s most prestigious event, the Met Gala serves as a global showcase for style, creativity and cultural influence.
Mandava’s growing influence extends beyond fashion campaigns and red carpets. Forbes’ recognition reflects not only her professional success but also the cultural significance of her journey. As an Indian model making waves on some of the world’s biggest platforms, Mandava has become an inspiration for young people across Asia, particularly girls who may not have previously seen themselves represented in such spaces. Reflecting on her journey, Mandava shared that she often thinks about the impact her success might have on others. “I think about brown girls who might feel that something has shifted in what they believe is possible for them,” she said. “I know that feeling because I’ve been that girl too.”
