Akshay Kumar’s star-studded comedy undergoes 18 edits before release.
Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated comedy Welcome ToThe Jungle has finally received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), but not without significant changes. The film has been awarded a UA 16+ certificate after the board insisted on 18 modifications, ranging from dialogue tweaks to visual cuts.
The certification process demanded alterations to several lines of dialogue. A controversial phrase, “Kala paidahua… koaylahai”, was replaced with “Saadah paidahua… namoonahuahai.” Similarly, references to “Panni of Kashmir” were removed, while a mention of the “Gorkha Regiment” was softened to “tum army se ho?” Names and terms were also adjusted, with “Azaruddeen” changed to “Allaudin,” and the word “Andha” muted and substituted with “dheela.” Even military references such as “General” were toned down to “officer” or “sir.”
On the visual front, the CBFC directed the filmmakers to tone down sensual imagery. Bikini shots, close-ups of hips, and dance sequences featuring Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez were modified to reduce suggestive content. A vulgar hand gesture was replaced with a close-up of actor Vindu Dara Singh. The board also ordered the removal of certain background subtitles and insisted that the word “Screwed” be deleted from two instances in the film’s captions.
In addition, the CBFC mandated the inclusion of anti-alcohol disclaimers wherever drinking scenes appear, aligning with its broader guidelines on responsible depiction of substance use. After these edits, the film’s final runtime stands at 164 minutes and 50 seconds (2 hours, 44 minutes, 50 seconds).
Despite the extensive scrutiny, the film retains its grand ensemble cast. Alongside Akshay Kumar, audiences will see Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Jackie Shroff, Lara Dutta, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Aftab Shivdasani, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, and veteran Farida Jalal.
Directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala, Rakesh Dang, and Vedant Vikaas Baali, Welcome ToThe Jungle promises to deliver a mix of comedy, action, and spectacle. With the censor board’s approval now secured, the film is set to hit theatres nationwide on June 26, 2026.
