He performed outstandingly at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 in Turku, Finland.

Neeraj Chopra wins the gold medal.

Neeraj Chopra has yet again stunned everyone by becoming the first Indian javelin thrower to win gold for India at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024. On Tuesday, he won a gold medal with his best throw of 85.97 m in the men’s javelin throw competition at the said games.

It was a commanding first throw and a powerful third attempt.

He created momentum with his commanding first throw, leading at 83.62m. However, he faced a minor setback as he trailed behind Oliver Helander, who took the lead at 83.95m. But he returned with a powerful third attempt with an 85.97m throw and was leading again. He pulled an 82.21m throw in his fourth attempt, and his fifth attempt wasn’t recorded.

Neeraj Chopra feels he hasn’t reached his peak.

Even after winning gold in Odisha, his first domestic tournament after a long break, and remaining a world champion, he still feels he has a long way to go to reach his peak. He envisions reaching the 90m mark.

After the Paavo Nurmi Games, Chopra will be next seen at the Paris Diamond League on July 7th, 2024.
