In the Worli hit-and-run case, Rajesh Shah, father of the accused, gets bail, while his son, Mihir, is still absconding.

Rajesh Shah, leader of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, gets bail. This comes a day after the same court remanded him in 14-day judicial custody in the BMW hit-and-run case in Worli, Mumbai.

On Monday, July 8, a Mumbai court granted bail to Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena leader, Rajesh Shah, in the BMW hit-and-run case. He was granted a provisional cash bail of Rs. 15,000 by the Sewree court. This comes a day after the same court had remanded him in a 14-day judicial custody in the BMW hit-and-run case, in which his son, Mihir Shah, is also an accused and is still absconding.

The Shiv Sena leader, Rajesh Shah’s son Mihir Shah (24), was allegedly driving the BMW car which fatally rammed into a two-wheeler, hitting a woman, Kaveri Nakhwa (45), leading her to death and injuring her husband Pradeep, while they were on their way to Mumbai’s Worli area on Sunday morning, as reported by the police.

Rajesh Shah and the driver were arrested.

Rajesh Shah, father of the accused, who owns the car, and the Shah family’s driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, were sent to police custody till Tuesday by S P Bhosle, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Sewree court). They were in the BMW at the time of the accident and thus were arrested on Sunday for allegedly helping Mihir escape after the crash. The police have booked all three under a range of charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. However, on Monday, Rajesh Shah got bail.

Police are on the lookout for Mihir Shah.

Police have formed six teams to find Mihir Shah, the accused in the hit-and-run case, who has been absconding. A lookout circular (LOC) has also been issued against him to prevent him from fleeing the country.
