As per a report, Sanjay Roy pleaded “not guilty.”

In the Kolkata rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, accused Sanjay Roy claims that he found the “Kolkata doctor covered in blood.” According to his lawyer, he also maintained his innocence during the polygraph test. The accused, Sanjay Roy, has also told his lawyer, Kavita Sarkar, that he is innocent and is being framed.

Sanjay Roy claims he is innocent.

On August 10, Sanjay Roy was arrested, a day after the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, based on a CCTV footage that showed him entering the seminar hall of the hospital where the crime took place. His Bluetooth headset was also found inside the seminar hall, which was considered proof by the court. However, the accused, Sanjay Roy, has now claimed that he is innocent.

Lawyer says Sanjay Roy maintained his innocence during the polygraph test.

Sanjay Roy’s lawyer, Kavita Sarkar, said that he maintained his innocence during the polygraph test. As reported on TOI, he was asked ten questions during the polygraph test, including what he did next after allegedly murdering the woman. He told the CBI that the question was invalid because he did not murder her. He also claimed in the polygraph test that the woman was unconscious when he entered the seminar hall of the hospital, as per the report.

Sanjay Roy claims he doesn’t know the victim.

He claimed that he saw the woman covered in blood inside the seminar hall on August 9 and rushed out of the room in panic. He also claimed that he didn’t know the victim and that he was being framed. Upon asking why he didn’t inform the police if he was innocent, Sanjay Roy said he was scared that no one would believe him. His lawyer, Kavita Sarkar, says the culprit could be someone else. She told TOI, “If he had access to the seminar hall so easily, it shows that there was a security lapse on that night, and someone else could have taken advantage of that.”
