Pune gang-rape: Three men gang-raped a woman and assaulted her male friend

Three men allegedly raped a woman and assaulted the male friend that accompanied her to the Bopdev Ghar area, as found by the police.

Another rape case has shook the nation, involving a young woman aged 21 in Pune. The woman was gang-raped by three men, while her male friend, who accompanied her was also assaulted by them on the outskirts of Pune, as per news agency PTI, citing police on Friday.

A 21-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men on the outskirts of Pune while her male friend was assaulted. The heinous crime was committed in the BopdevGhar area around 11 pm on Thursday, said the police. As per the Kondhwa police, the woman had gone to the locality with her male friend. A senior Pune police official said, “As per preliminary details, the woman and her male friend had gone to the Bopdev Ghar area on Thursday late night where three unknown people allegedly raped her.”

The senior police officer also said that ten police teams have been formed to nab the three men who allegedly gang-raped. Another official from Kondhwa police station told PTI that the incident happened at an isolated place, and the trio also assaulted the woman’s male friend.

Another such atrocious crime took place, involving a 45-year-old driver of a school van allegedly sexually assaulting two 6-year-old girl students in Pune. The accused, Sanjay Reddy, was booked and arrested under sections 64 (punishment for rape) and 65 (2) (punishment for rape of woman under twelve years of age) of the Bharatiya NyayaSanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
