Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025 in Parliament on Saturday. This time again, the honourable minister made her presence felt with her style statement, choosing a beautiful Madhubani saree to pay tribute to a 2021 Padma Shri awardee.

While presenting the Union Budget 2025 in the Parliament, the Finance Minister stunned in an ethereal saree with a Madhubani motif. She not only made a fashion statement but also promoted India’s rich cultural heritage while supporting the artisans who have been able to keep this traditional art form alive. She made history by presenting her eighth consecutive Union Budget, the highest by any Finance Minister in independent India.

She wore a stunning cream saree with a traditional gold border and a contrasting red blouse. She wore gold bangles, a chain, and earrings for the accessories, keeping the look minimal. Her saree had a border featuring a colourful Madhubani motif, a beautiful representation of India’s rich cultural heritage.

Madhubani art is a traditional folk art form from the Mithila region of Bihar. Intricate geometric patterns, floral motifs and depictions of nature and mythology characterise it. The art form is known for its vibrant colours, symbolic representations and delicate lines.
