The wedding in Bareilly, UP, was chaotic when a drunk groom mistakenly put the garland on the bride’s best friend instead of the bride during the varmala ceremony. This resulted in the bride slapping the drunk groom and calling off the wedding. Despite repeated efforts made by both families to continue the ceremony, the bride refused to marry him. This led to a heated argument between both sides. After hours of dispute, the groom’s family had to return without the wedding taking place.

A police official stated, “The bride’s family accused the groom of being heavily drunk and misbehaving at the wedding. Based on their complaint, we have taken the groom and his friends into custody.”
A case was registered against the groom’s family, and the police took action against the groom for disturbing public order.
