Businessman and ex-husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay Kapur, reportedly died due to a heart attack on Thursday in London. As per a new report, his funeral might get delayed due to legal formalities involving his US citizenship. Initial reports claimed that Sunjay, 53, died due to a heart attack while playing polo.

According to a report by NDTV, sources close to the family shared that Sunjay’s funeral may face delays due to legal formalities related to his US citizenship. He died on June 12, suffering a heart attack during a polo match in the UK. The source said, “The complication arises from the fact that Sunjay was a US citizen who passed away in the UK, leading to an extended legal process before his body can be flown to India for the final rites.” Ashok Sachdev, Sunjay’s father-in-law and the father of his wife, Priya Sachdev, told NDTV that the funeral will take place in Delhi. He said, “The post-mortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought to India for the last rites.”

The businessman and ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor, who was also a close friend of Prince William, died on June 12 during a polo match in England. Initial reports claimed that the heart attack was caused by a freak accident involving a bee sting. However, nothing has been officially stated about the same.
Sunjay Kapur’s first marriage was with fashion designer Nandita Mahtani in 1996, which lasted four years. He then married actress Karisma Kapoor in 2003. They had two children together – Samaira (19) and Kiaan (13). In 2014, they filed for divorce through mutual consent, which was finalized in 2016. In 2017, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev. The couple have a son, Azarias.
