Sachin Tendulkar expresses grief over Dilip Doshi’s death

Ravi Shastri also expressed sorrow on the passing of the former Indian cricketer Dilip Doshi.

On Monday, June 23, former India left-arm spinner Dilip Doshi died aged 77. He took 144 Test wickets in 33 appearances, including six 5-wicket hauls for India. Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri, along with other veteran cricketers, have expressed sorrow over Dilip Doshi’s passing.

Former India cricketer left-arm spinner Dilip Doshi passed away on Monday, aged 77, due to a cardiac arrest in London. He is survived by his wife, Kalindi; son, Nayan, who also played first-class cricket; and daughter, Vishakha. Legends Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri, among other veterans, were deeply saddened by the news. On social media, Tendulkar recalled his first meeting with Doshi in 1990, when he bowled to him at the nets in preparation for the tour. He wrote, “I met Dilipbhai for the first time in the UK in 1990, and he bowled to me in the nets on that tour. He was really fond of me, and I reciprocated his feelings. A warm-hearted soul like Dilipbhai will be deeply missed. I will miss those cricketing conversations which we invariably had. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

Ravi Shastri remembered him as “always immaculate, a gentleman to the core and a fine, fine bowler. Heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace. Really sad to hear about the passing of Dilip Doshi.” Anil Kumble also mourned Doshi’s death and wrote on X, “Heartbreaking to hear about Dilip bhai’s passing. May God give strength to his family and friends to bear this loss. Nayan, thinking of you buddy.”
