Redditors alam CBFC for censoring Saiyaara’s intimate scene

Reddit users expressed disappointment over CBFC’s cuts in Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara.

Reddit users have slammed the CBFC for censoring an intimate scene between Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in their upcoming film Saiyaara, which releases on Friday, July 18. Ahaan, a cousin of actor Ananya Panday, is debuting with this YRF film, directed by Mohit Suri. It will also see the debut of Aneet Padda.

While Saiyaara has received a U/A certificate from the CBFC, it has suggested several cuts, including the deletion of 10 seconds of “sensual, intimate and body exposure visuals.” However, Redditors have slammed the board for doing so. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the Central Board of Film Certification has requested the makers of Saiyaara to implement specific cuts and changes. At four instances, ‘objectionable’ words were censored and replaced with more ‘appropriate’ terms. CBFC asked the makers to delete and replace 10 seconds of “sensual, intimate, body exposure visuals.” They even asked them to add a static disclaimer about helmet safety in scenes involving 2-wheeler vehicles.

Netizens asked for Sandeep Reddy Vanga to head the CBFC. One user wrote, “Sanskari censor board got no chill.” Another reacted, “We will witness Sandeep Reddy Vanga vs Censor Board soon.” A third user wrote, “Vanga for CBFC chairman. Please upvote.” One more commented, “We need Vanga to counter this madness,” while another added, “It’s a Certification Board, not a film-cutting board.” A user also noted, “The same CBFC gave Housefull 5 a U/A certificate. Hypocrisy.”
