The former India cricketer turned politician Manoj Tiwary believes that the contest between the arch-rival teams should not go ahead.
Among those who have already voiced their opinion about the upcoming Asia Cup and the BCCI’s decision for an India vs Pakistan contest in the tournament, Manoj Tiwary has also given his opinion. The former India cricketer-turned-politician believes that the contest shouldn’t be held.
Manoj Tiwary says he is against the BCCI’s decision for IND vs PAK in the Asia Cup 2025.
Cricket’s governing bodies have faced criticism for scheduling the Asia Cup soon after violence along the India-Pakistan border. The tournament will run from September 9 to 28 in the UAE, with the India-Pakistan match set for September 14. Manoj Tiwary, now a minister of state in West Bengal, also criticized the BCCI. In an interview with ANI, he stated that he opposes the match, particularly in light of recent violence and ongoing operations.
“How can we play a match with Pakistan?”
Tiwary added, “The situation was so bad, how can we think of an India-Pakistan match. I feel that it should be considered again and the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment,” continued the former Bengal batter. “Our Prime Minister is saying that the Operation Sindoor is still going on… How can we play a match with Pakistan?”
