An Odisha peon served urine in a bottle instead of drinking water to his senior.
A peon in the Gajapati district of Odisha was detained after he served urine in a bottle instead of drinking water to his senior officer. He was allegedly arrested for the same after the senior’s complaint. The incident happened towards the end of July, when both the peon and his senior, Assistant Executive Engineer Sachin Gouda, were working at the RWSS office in R Udayagiri. Gouda had asked Nayak for a bottle of drinking water. However, the latter allegedly handed him a bottle of urine, as per a report on India Today. Gouda, who was engrossed in his work, drank from the bottle. A while later, he began feeling unwell and became suspicious of the liquid’s nature. Following this, his condition worsened, and he was admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for medical treatment.
The accused has been allegedly arrested.
The engineer then sent a sample of the water he had consumed for a lab test. The test reports confirmed that the ammonia concentration in the liquid was higher than usual, which suggested contamination. After Gouda recovered, he filed a police complaint and alleged that two other staff members who also consumed the water had raised concerns about its taste and quality. Following the incident, Nayak was detained for questioning and later arrested, as per an India Today report.
