A woman in Maharashtra killed her mother-in-law and fled from the scene

After failing to dispose of her mother-in-law’s body, the woman fled the scene; however, the police arrested the accused from a neighbouring city.

The shocking incident took place on Tuesday night when a woman in Jalna district in Maharashtra killed her mother-in-law and fled the scene after failing to dispose of her body, said the police. The 22-year-old allegedly killed her mother-in-law following an argument with her.

The incident took place in Maharashtra’s Jalna district following an argument, and then she ran away as she was unable to dispose of her body. The accused woman, Pratiksha Shingare, was then arrested by the police from the neighbouring Parbhani city, said the police. The accused got married six months back to Akash Shingare, who works at a private company in Latur, Additional Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopany told reporters on Wednesday. She resided with her mother-in-law, Savita Shingare (45), at a rented house in Jalna’s Priyadarshni colony.

An argument led to the killing of the mother-in-law.

The two women had an argument on Tuesday night during which the alleged accused banged her mother-in-law’s head against a wall and later attacked her with a kitchen knife, following which the latter died, Rajendra Wagh, police sub-inspector said. The accused then placed the body in a bag in an attempt to dispose of it. However, due to weight, she couldn’t move it and thus fled the house at around 6 am on Wednesday. Subsequently she boarded a train to her native Parbhani city, said the official.

The owner of the house later found the body in the bag and alerted local police. The police then launched a search and arrested the accused from Parbhani.
