The black box from the crashed plane was recovered and transported to Delhi for further probe.

On January 28, in a fatal aeroplane crash, five people, including Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra AjitPawar, died. Reports now say that the black box of the jet VT SSK that crashed in Baramati has been recovered and has now been sent to Delhi for further probe.

An official said that the wreckage of the crashed flight, VT SSK, was also lifted and will be transported to Delhi for further investigation. The data from the black box will be analysed by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). One of the officials said, “The black box is already in Delhi and will be decoded in the AAIB lab.” A black box is a device that records key flight data and cockpit conversations, and plays a crucial role in accident investigations.

Last Wednesday, in a tragic aeroplane crash in Baramati, five people, including deputy chief minister of Maharashtra AjitPawar, his personal security officer VidhitJadhav, two cockpit crew members, pilot-in-command SumitKapur and first officer Shambhavi Pathak, along with cabin crew Pinky Mali, were killed. The incident happened when the business jet attempted to land for the second time after a go-around. After the incident, a team of three officers from AAIB, Delhi, and another team of three officers from the DGCA, Mumbai Regional Office, reached the crash site on the same day. The aircraft, bearing registration VT-SSK, was operated by a Delhi-based non-scheduled operator, VSR Ventures Pvt Ltd.

According to the police, who are aware of the matter, the AAIB team, along with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), returned to base on Sunday night. The official said, “All the evidence, including the ATC (air traffic control) logs and recordings, along with the black box, has been sealed and is in AAIB’s custody.” Another official said the accident spot was cleared on Sunday. He said, “The wreckage of the jet was lifted and will be transported to Delhi for further investigations.” The official said the Baramati airstrip remains closed for flight operations. It has two flying training organisation (FTO) Redbird and Carver. He further said, “The ATC operations were managed by Carver Aviation at the time of the crash. The AAIB has seized all the necessary documents from the accident day.”
