Akshaye Khanna, in his Telugu film debut, Mahakali to play ‘Shukracharya’

His first glimpse as Shukracharya was shared by filmmaker Prasanth Varma on the actor’s birthday on March 28.

Ever since Dhurandhar was released last year in December, Akshaye Khanna has been riding high on success for his portrayal of RehmanDakait. Though he didn’t have an extensive role except a shot of his in the Aditya Dhar-directed sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which released this March, fans missed him as the antagonist of the duology. However, on the occasion of his birthday on March 29, director Prasanth Varma shared a glimpse of Akshaye as ‘Shukracharya’ in his Telugu debut’ Mahakali.’

Director Prasanth Varma offered fans a glimpse of Akshaye’s upcoming project, Mahakali, by sharing a behind-the-scenes image showcasing the actor’s striking new look as Shukracharya. Taking to X, Prasanth penned a warm birthday note, praising Akshaye’s understated yet powerful presence on screen. He described Akshaye as someone who proves that true talent doesn’t rely on noise and applauded his ability to deliver impactful performances with effortless charm. Prasanth further expressed his excitement about their collaboration. He teased that audiences can expect something special from the film and promised more updates soon.

Akshaye Khanna in Mahakali will play the role of Shukracharya, the revered Guru of the Asuras from Hindu mythology. The film is directed by Puja Kolluru and forms part of the expanding Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). This shared universe already includes the successful superhero film Hanu-Man (2024), with future titles like Jai Hanuman and Adhira also in development.
