Supreme Court shut down its YouTube channel after alleged hacking, showing videos related to Ripple Lab’s cryptocurrency XRP instead of its usual live stream hearings.

A report claims the Supreme Court of India’s YouTube channel has been compromised. Instead of its usual live stream hearings, the channel showed videos related to Ripple Lab’s cryptocurrency XRP. Since the hack, YouTube has removed the channel. This incident follows a pattern of hackers targeting popular channels to promote cryptocurrency scams. Previously, Ripple had sued YouTube for failing to stop scammers from impersonating it.

Supreme Court of India provides an update on the hack.

Hours after the Supreme Court of India’s YouTube channel was hacked, the SC has now provided an update on the same. The SC channel showed videos related to cryptocurrency developed by a US-based company called Ripple Labs. A notice by the SC said, “This is to inform all concerned that the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India has been taken down. The services on the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India will be resumed shortly.”

Instead of usual live hearings, cryptocurrency videos were shown.

Instead of showing the usual live hearings, the YouTube channel of India’s apex court on Friday showed promotional videos of XRP, the cryptocurrency developed by Ripple Labs that runs an exchange network for the digital currency XRP, aimed at people who want to send money internationally.

The hacking was spotted when a blank video titled “Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION” went live on the channel. After this, all the previous videos of the SC hearings were made private.
