The Amarnath Yatra is ongoing, and amidst this, a few pilgrims were seen jumping off a moving bus after a brake failure, which was captured on camera. However, the prompt action of the security forces averted this major tragedy on National Highway 44 near Nachlana. The local police in Ramban district successfully prevented the potential bus disaster.

A bus carrying 40 Amarnath pilgrims from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, narrowly avoided a major tragedy due to a brake failure on National Highway 44 near Nachlana in the Benihal area of Ramban district. The bus descending from Baltal faced a brake failure on the steep slopes of the highway. Panic ensued among the pilgrims, and some jumped off the moving bus, desperately attempting to save their lives.
It was the swift and coordinated action of the Indian Army and J&K police that averted the tragedy.
As reported by ANI on X, “Indian Army and J&K police averted the major bus tragedy at NH-44 at Ramban yesterday, as a langar vehicle moving toward Punjab lost control due to brake failure. Indian Army jawans, along with J&K Police persons, attempted to slow down and finally stop the Bus from plunging into a gorge by placing stones beneath the tires of the vehicle. To save their lives, some passengers jumped out of the bus. Ten people were injured in the incident.”
The Army’s medical teams, always prepared for such emergencies, provided immediate first aid on-site to the injured and later transported them to a local medical facility.
