A senior airport authority official was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his official accommodation at the airport in Dehradun on Monday. He hung himself from a ceiling fan dressed in women’s clothes, including a maxi, undergarments, bindi, lipstick, and bangles. His wife, a teacher, was in Pithoragarh at the time of the incident.

SSP (Udham Singh Nagar) Manjunath told a news portal that relatives and colleagues forced open the official’s bedroom door and found him hanging. He further said that he was then taken to a hospital where doctors declared him “dead on arrival.” It is said that there wasn’t any sign of forced entry in the room, which was locked from inside. There were no signs of physical assault either.

All three had dinner together on Sunday and went out at night before returning to the apartment. As per preliminary investigation, the two were in one room, and the official was in the other. They had planned to go to a nearby mango orchard around 8 am on Monday, but when the official didn’t wake up despite several calls, they informed their colleagues living in the neighborhood.
The police have now seized his mobile phone to examine his call details and conduct a cyber-forensic probe.
