The Nitish Kumar government presented the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 in the Assembly regarding alleged irregularities in paper leaks in NEET-UG 2024.
On Wednesday, July 24, the Nitish Kumar government presented the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 in the Assembly. This decision was taken considering the ongoing alleged irregularities of paper leaks in the conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test 2024 (NEET-UG) for admission to undergraduate medical courses. The case has also reached the Supreme Court.

To curb paper leaks and rigging, the Nitish Kumar government presented the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 in the Assembly on Wednesday. Provision has been made for 3-10 years of imprisonment and a fine if found guilty. The bill was presented looking at the ongoing growing alleged issue of irregularities of paper leaks in the conduct of NEET-UG 2024. It has also been provisioned that those involved in a paper leak or any related activity will be found guilty under this law. The accused will face imprisonment for up to 10 years and a Rs. 1 crore fine. Also, all crimes under this law will be cognizable and non-bailable.
Bihar government makes strict law against paper leaks.
Speaking on the new anti-paper leak law, Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said, “Bihar government has made a strict law against paper leak. With this law, the future of aspirants and students will be secured. The law proposes 10 years imprisonment and a minimum Rs 1 crore fine for the criminals.”
