Bombay HC pulls up the Maharashtra police over the Badlapur sexual abuse case.
On Thursday, after hearing the case of the alleged sexual abuse of two minor girls from a school in Thane’s Badlapur has now pulled up the Maharashtra police asking why the statement on the second victim was not recorded in the case of sexual abuse in Badlapur. The division bench, including Justice Revati Mohite-Dere and Justice Prithviraj K Chavan, have asked the police to provide details about the steps they have taken to ensure the security and safety of the two girls and said it would examine the measures.
What did the justices say on the case?
The justices, according to an Indian Express report, stated, “We are appalled by the fact that the Badlapur Police did not record the statement of the second victim girl under Section 164. Since this is a suo motu PIL on larger issues, the security and safety of girls cannot be compromised. Unless there is a strong public outburst, the machinery does not work.”
The Bombay High Court also pulled up the Badlapur School for not reporting to the police about the sexual abuse even though they were aware it was happening.
