The 24-year-old who was accused of sexually assaulting two 4-year-olds from a Kindergarten in Badlapur of Thane district was killed near Mumbra Bypass in Thane on Monday evening.

As per reports, on Monday evening, Akshay Shinde, 24, accused of sexually assaulting two minor girls at a Badlapur school in Thane district, was shot dead by police inspector Sanjay Shinde near Mumbra Bypass in Thane when he allegedly snatched a gun of a policeman, while he was being ferried in a police vehicle as part of a probe into a case registered against him on the complaint of his former wife, as told by an official.

Akshay Shinde, who worked as a contractual sweeper at the school in Badlapur, was arrested on August 17, five days after the heinous incident took place in the school toilet. The accused was shot by the police on Monday, and reportedly, he first snatched the gun of a policeman and fired a shot, injuring a police inspector. Another officer from the police escort team fired at Akshay, and he was declared dead by doctors at the Kalwa Civic Hospital, the official said. He was being transported to Badlapur from Taloja jail for investigation. In the firing, Sanjay Shinde and assistant police inspector Nilesh More were injured.
As reported by India Today, Sanjay Shinde previously worked with the anti-extortion cell of the Thane Police Crime Branch, then headed by Pradeep Sharma, who was part of the team that arrested gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar. It is said that CID will now investigate the killing of Akshay Shinde.
