BJP reacts to Shashi Tharoor’s post on social media mocking exams in UP

BJP leaders have reacted to a social media post by Shashi Tharoor and slammed the Congress leader for his “condemnable remarks stereotyping” the state of Uttar Pradesh.

A senior Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor, recently posted an image depicting an answer sheet with the question, “Uttar Pradesh kise kehte hain? (Define Uttar Pradesh).” The answer to the question reads, “Woh Pradesh jahan pariksha se pehle uttar pata chal jaaye use Uttar Pradesh kehte hain (The state where answers come out before the exams is called Uttar Pradesh).”

Posting the image on X, Shashi Tharoor received flak. The post mocked the competitive examinations in Uttar Pradesh amid recent incidents of paper leaks. Soon to react on the same were BJP leaders slamming him for posting something so stereotypical, stating “condemnable remarks stereotyping” the Uttar Pradesh state.

Himanta Biswa, Assam Chief Minister, too, reacted.

Himanta Biswa, the Chief Minister of Assam, also took to the microblogging site X and wrote, “This gentleman frequently indulges in satirizing various cultures (first Northeast and now UP) with remarkably caustic words. He has succumbed to the beguiling whispers of lunacy, his mind adrift in the ethereal mists of derangement.”

Such an insult to UP is deplorable and must be condemned in the strongest words.”

CR Kesavan, the BJP spokesperson, called Shashi Tharoor a “repeated offender.”
