A bus and auto rickshaw collided in Patan, leading to the death of six people.

A tragic accident claimed six lives in Patan, Gujarat when a bus and auto rickshaw collided. Prima facie, the bus driver apparently lost control of the wheel while trying to overtake another vehicle. This resulted in the collision, which killed six people, said an official.

A bus collided with an auto rickshaw and killed six people in Gujarat’s Patan.

The state transport bus was going towards Kutch from Himmatnagar, while the auto-rickshaw was coming from the opposite direction when the accident took place. The six people who were killed in the accident were travelling in an auto-rickshaw in Gujarat’s Patan district on Thursday, said Patan District Superintendent of Police V K Nayi. The official said the accident happened near Sami village on the Sami-Radhanpur highway around 11.30 am.

All six people died on the spot.

DSP V K Nayi said, “All six persons travelling in the auto-rickshaw, including the driver, died on the spot. The impact was so intense that the mangled remains of the auto got stuck underneath the bus.” Prime facie, it appears that the bus driver lost control while trying to overtake another vehicle, which led to the tragic accident, claiming six lives, said the official. Lavingji Thakor, Radhanpur MLA and BJP leader, who rushed to the spot after learning about the accident, confirmed the death of the six occupants of the auto, including the driver.

The local police have started investigating the incident, said DSP V K Nayi.
