Captain Rohit Sharma and his team held a bus parade on Thursday, July 4, at Marine Drive, Mumbai, and fans and crowds turned out in huge numbers. Pictures and videos that went viral show how people in massive numbers greeted World Champions Team India during the bus parade after winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Following the bus parade was a small function at Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit Sharma had to wait to give his winning speech, as he had to let the cheers subside before he could dedicate Team India’s T20 World Cup win to the entire nation. He was all smiles on a busy day on Thursday as Team India went for a bus parade from Marine Drive in Mumbai. After the victory march, the team reached the Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit Sharma at Wankhede was asked to step up on stage and reflect on the crowning moment of his career but was hijacked by the Mumbai crowd, which erupted in cheers, forcing the winning captain to pause his speech momentarily. The Wankhede stadium crowd went up in unison and cheered for 30-odd seconds before an overwhelmed Rohit urged them to let him speak.

Dedicating the World Cup Trophy to the entire nation, Rohit Sharma said, “Firstly, since we came to India, it’s been wonderful. The reception we’ve received here tells you the kind of enthusiasm people had for this trophy. Yes, of course, it means so much for us, but it’s for the entire nation. Along with all the players who have represented the country, I think the people who’ve been wanting us to win the trophy, it (trophy) belongs to them.”
