For quite some time, there have been reports of the rise of Mpox cases, starting in African countries and spreading to a few other parts of the world. In cognizance of the same, the Center has now issued a safety advisory for all states and union territories (UTs) over the global outbreak of Mpox. The safety advisory gives everyone instructions to avoid the spread of the virus in India.

On Monday, the Center issued a safety advisory, asking all states and UTs to avoid the spread of Mpox in India. It has asked to screen and test all suspected Mpox cases in the community and identify hospital isolation units for suspected and confirmed patients.
Union Health Secretary’s statement on the issue.
In a letter to all states and UT administrations, Apurva Chandra, the Union Health Secretary, asked them to take all necessary precautions and prevent any undue panic amongst the masses. He emphasized the need to stay alert and said, “No new case of Mpox has been reported in India in the current outbreak, and none of the samples in suspected cases has tested positive.” He further said that the Center continues to monitor the current situation closely.
Emphasis on reviewing public health preparedness.
He asked the states and the UTs to review public health preparedness, particularly at the health facility level, identify isolation facilities in hospitals, and ensure the availability of required logistics and trained human resources at such facilities.
