Khanchandra Singh passed away due to stage 4 liver cancer; Rinku has left India’s T20 World Cup squad to be with his family, as per reports.
A tragic incident has spread grief in the life of cricketer Rinku Singh and his family as his father, Khanchandra Singh, passed away on Friday morning, battling stage 4 liver cancer. In the final days, it is said his condition has turned quite critical.
Rinku Singh’s father dies due to cancer.
Khanchandra Singh’s condition was too critical in the final days, and he was kept on mechanical ventilator support. He was undergoing continuous renal replacement therapy as doctors tried to stabilise him. The deterioration had been swift, and he remained under close medical supervision before his passing. The news came at a time when Rinku was away with the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. Ahead of the clash against Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, he had suddenly left the squad and travelled back home after being informed that his father’s health had worsened significantly. Notably, Khanchandra had been fighting liver cancer for some time, but his health had recently declined sharply, leading to his hospitalisation in Greater Noida. Khanchandra Singh’s work involved a lot of labour. He worked for the Indian Oil-owned cooking gas company Indane. He delivered LPG cylinders day in, day out. Even after Rinku made a name for himself as an Indian cricketer, Khanchandra continued working. He kept working until he was diagnosed with liver cancer a while back.
The cricketing fraternity also expresses grief.
In this hour of grief for Rinku Singh and family, the cricketing fraternity has stood united. Harbhajan Singh was among the first to pay homage. He wrote on X, “Pained to learn about the demise of Shri Khanchandra Singh Ji, father of Rinku Singh. This must be an especially difficult time for Rinku and his family, even as he remains committed to his responsibilities during the T20 World Cup. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength and courage to the bereaved family.”
