The Uttar Pradesh Dibrugarh Express accident led to four deaths and over 60 injured.
The UP train accident on Thursday, July 18, shook everyone. The Dibrugarh Express, coming from Chandigarh, derailed between Jhilahi railway station and Gosai Dihwa in Uttar Pradesh. Railway officials have reached the spot, and a high-level probe is underway.

Dibrugarh Express, coming from Chandigarh, met with an accident in Uttar Pradesh between Jhilahi railway station and Gosai Dihwa. The death toll has risen to four, and around twenty people have sustained injuries after several bogies of the train derailed in UP’s Gonda on Thursday. As reported by GS Naveen Kumar, Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner, twenty people were injured in the accident. However, it is now reported that more than sixty people have been injureddue to the accident.
A rescue operation and a high-level probe are underway.
A 40-member medical team and 15 ambulances reached the spot, and more medical teams and ambulances were called later, said GS Naveen Kumar. Also, senior railway and local administration officials reached the site about 150 km from Lucknow to manage the rescue operations. It is also said that railways and the UP police have begun the probe into the claims of the train’s loco pilot, who said that he heard an explosion just before the derailment. The railways announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh for the kin of the deceased, Rs. 2.5 lakh for the ones grievously injured and Rs. 50,000 for those with minor injuries.

Sharing on X, the CM’s office wrote, “Taking cognizance of the train accident in Gonda district, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district administration officials to reach the spot and expedite the relief work. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide proper treatment. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” read a post sent out by the chief minister’s office.
