A video has gone viral on the internet, where Kohli is seen hurling insults at Musheer Khan when the latter walked out to bat in the 9th over of the innings.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) showcased a splendid all-round performance, thrashing Punjab Kings by eight wickets in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2025 on Thursday at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. This resulted in RCB reaching the finals for the fourth time in IPL. However, during the match, Virat Kohli has come under scrutiny on social media for making unsavoury remarks towards PBKS batter Musheer Khan.
Did Virat Kohli make fun of Musheer Khan?
When Musheer Khan walked out to bat in the 9th over of the innings, Virat Kohli was seen trying to get under the skin of the 20-year-old, who was making his debut in the T20 competition. A video has gone viral on the internet, in which Kohli is seen having an animated conversation with his teammate. Positioned at the first slip, the former India captain can be seen having an animated chat with his teammate. Fans are now claiming on social media that Kohli references Musheer Khan as a ‘water boy,’ saying, “Ye paani pilata hai.”
Outrage on social media.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with fans calling out Virat Kohli for being disrespectful toward a younger player who was playing for the first time in the IPL. Some fans claimed that Kohli didn’t insult Musheer Khan as the former was just discussing how the young PBKS batter was serving drinks earlier in the match.
However, earlier this season, Virat Kohli gifted a bat to Musheer Khan after the league stage match between PBKS and RCB. Musheer then thanked Kohli and wrote on Instagram, “A million thanks for the bat Virat Bhaiyya.”
