Eid-e-Milad holiday is postponed from September 16 to September 18 by the Maharashtra government.
According to reports, Eid-e-Milad, which was likely to be observed on September 16, subject to the position of the moon, may now be rescheduled to September 18. The Ganpati Visarjan falls on September 17, and in view of the same, the Maharashtra government on Friday rescheduled the official Eid-e-Milad in Mumbai.

According to an official release, the decision to reschedule the holiday of Eid-e-MIlad in Mumbai was made after the local Muslim community decided to hold its Eid processions on September 18 instead of September 16 to avoid any inconvenience during Anant Chaturdashi, the last day of the Ganesh festival, which is on September 17. According to the news agency PTI, the officials in the release said that the local collectors could decide on a smaller rescheduling of the Eid holiday in other districts according to the circumstances.

Naseem Khan, Maharashtra Congress leader, urged Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to declare a holiday on September 18 for Eid-e-Milad instead of September 16. In his letter, he said, “Anant Chaturdashi falls on September 17, and Muslim community members have decided to take out Eid-e-Milad processions on September 18 so that both festivals can be celebrated with pomp and gaiety.”
This is the second consecutive year the Muslim community volunteered to reschedule its procession to commemorate the occasion and ensure communal harmony.
