Former Indian bowling all-rounder and now a cricket commentator and analyst, IrfanPathan was recently called in for an interview, where he spoke at large on his life, career and other aspects. He also talked about his wife getting trolled for wearing a hijab.
IrfanPathan addresses his wife being trolled for wearing a hijab.
IrfanPathan and his wife, SafaBaig, got married in 2016, and while he stayed away from controversies, he admits it was tough to watch his wife being targeted. Safa has been subjected to relentless trolling over the years, ranging from being mocked for wearing nail polish to being criticised over a blurred picture she once posted. Speaking at a recent interview with Lallantop, Irfan said, “Shurumeiburalagtatha, shurumeilagtathayehzarooratnhihai (In the beginning, it felt bad, it felt unnecessary).”
IrfanPathan calls his wife Safa the “leader” of their home.
Pathan called Safa the “leader” of their home and said, “Mere leader kebaaremei koi bolegatohsahinhilagtahai (If someone says something against my leader, it doesn’t feel right),” he said. He further added, “Trolling bilkulhuihai and bohotgalattareeke se hui and josahinhihai. Shruumei jab huathajohumarimohtarmakoburalagatha, and merayehikehnahaiki comments mat padho (There was trolling, it was done in a very wrong way, and it wasn’t right. When it happened initially, it hurt my wife, and I told her not to read the comments).”
Despite the negativity, he admits that he often feels like sharing family moments openly. He said, “Agar mera bas chaletoh main roz family photo post karoonlekin main public figure hone kebawajoodbhibohot private aadmihoon (If it was up to me, I’d post family photos every day, but even as a public figure, I’m still a very private person).” Interestingly, Irfan revealed he first connected with Safa through social media, and it was he who reached out to her.
