A fraud case was busted recently in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, where a man posed as a Hindu priest. He posed as a Hindu priest under a fake identity and was later detained by the police. The matter came to the villagers’ attention when they caught the man allegedly taking money from the donation box. They then alerted the police.

The man in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, had been living at a Shiva temple in Dadri village, under Daurala police station limits. He claimed to be “Krishna, son of Santarpal.” He allegedly posed as a Hindu priest under a false identity and deceived locals for nearly a year. He was sent to jail on Thursday, said police.

The accused is identified as a 39-year-old Qasim. He was originally a resident of Koili Raipur village in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district. Claiming to be “Krishna, son of Santarpal,” he lived at a Shiva temple in Dadri village. As per the officials, the man had been conducting rituals and residing in the temple for almost a year under this fake identity. He had left the temple ahead of the annual Kanwar Yatra but returned on Saavan Shivratri. He was caught taking money from the donation box by the villagers, who alerted the police.
During police questioning, the accused failed to produce any valid identity documents. Further investigation revealed that he had previously stayed at a Kali temple near a cremation ground in Khatauli, from where religious texts and a mobile phone were recovered.
