After BCCI confirmed his appointment as Team India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir gave a special mention to Rahul Dravid.

Recently, Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary, confirmed the appointment of former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir as Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team in an official statement. Gautam Gambhir feels honored to be back at the national camp. The two-time World Cup winner has officially replaced Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the reigning T20 World Champions, Team India.

Confirming the appointment as the new head coach for Team India by the BCCI, Gautam Gambhir said, “It is an absolute honor to serve my tricolor, my people, my country. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rahul Dravid and his team of support staff for their exemplary run with the team. I am honored and excited to take on the role of Head Coach for Team India.” He added, “I have always taken pride while donning the Indian jersey during my playing days, and it is going to be no different when I take up this new role. Cricket has been my passion, and I look forward to working closely with the BCCI, Head of CricketMr. VVS Laxman, the support staff, and, most importantly, the players as we work towards achieving success in the upcoming tournaments.”

Under the leadership and guidance of Rahul Dravid, Team India became the first men’s team to win a T20 World Cup without dropping a single game in the ICC event. Rahul Dravid guided Team India to three ICC finals and led the team to lift the Asia Cup trophy last year.

Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment as the head coach of Team India will be the upcoming Sri Lanka series, consisting of three T20Is and three ODIs.
