After 17 years, Harbhajan Singh apologises on social media saying, “Insaan hu, bhagwaan nahi.”

Recently, Harbhajan Singh took to X to apologise for his actions in 2008 during the first season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Sreesanth. After 17 years on the platform, he admitted to his mistake for his infamous ‘slap gate’ incident involving Sreesanth.

Harbhajan Singh apologises for the slapgate incident involving Sreesanth during IPL 2008.

Harbhajan Singh admitted his mistake for his misbehaviour with Sreesanth during IPL 2008. The former Indian spinner issued a public apology for his actions back then on the day. In response to a video shared of the incident, Harbhajan Singh on X held his hands up and acknowledged his mistake for his behaviour with Sreesanth on the day. He wrote, “This wasn’t right bhai,” wrote Harbhajan in response to the video shared by a user. “It was my mistake. Shouldn’t have done this. But Galti hui Insaan hu Bhagwaan nahi (I made a mistake, I am a human, not God),” he added, asking for forgiveness for his actions back then.

Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth are on better terms today.

The slapgate incident had become one of the major talking points of the first season of IPL in 2008. Videos had captured Sreesanth, then playing for Kings XI Punjab in tears and being consoled by teammates such as Kumar Sangakkara. Harbhajan, who served as the captain of Mumbai Indians, was then barred from playing in the rest of that year’s tournament after his actions.

However, he has apologised for his behaviour toward Sreesanth on many occasions since then, stating he was ashamed of the choices he made back then.
