In the semi-final clash between India and Australia, India’s all-rounder Jadeja was asked to remove the tape from his bowling hand.

Ravindra Jadeja, India’s star all-rounder, was asked to remove the tape from his bowling hand during the semi-final clash between India and Australia in the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium. The incident happened when Jadeja came to bowl the 19th over. Umpire Illingworth then stopped him to remove the tape from his bowling hand.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also joined the chat, and Jadeja later removed the tape. As per the International Cricket Council (ICC), it is not generally legal to tape the bowling hand for unversed reasons. Bowlers aren’t allowed to use tapes on their fingers unless they have a specific injury and have obtained permission from the umpires. If a bowler has a recent injury and needs to be protected, it is legal to wear a tape; however, the umpire’s consent is necessary.
