ICC has informed PCB that India won’t be traveling to Pakistan to play in the Champions Trophy.
The ICC has informed the PCB that India won’t be traveling to Pakistan to play in the upcoming Champions Trophy. The drama around the Champions Trophy continues, and now it is official that India won’t be traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Tournament, which is set to be played in Pakistan in 2025.
India won’t travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.
As confirmed by the news portal Hindustan Times, a spokesperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that ICC conveyed to them that India is not traveling to Pakistan for the tournament scheduled from February 19 to March 9 next year. The spokesperson also confirmed that the PCB has forwarded the ICC’s official mail to the government, and upon their advice, a final call would be taken. The spokesperson said to the portal, “The PCB has received an email from the ICC, stating that the BCCI has informed them that their team will not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB has forwarded that email to the Government of Pakistan for their advice and guidance.”
Pakistan will pull off if India doesn’t travel for the Champions Trophy.
Security concerns have been the biggest concern, so BCCI decided not to send its team to the Champions Trophy after taking advice from the Indian government. Rashid Latif, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter, said that if India doesn’t visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, the hosts will pull out of the tournament.
Rashid Latif told Geo News, “We can say that India does not want to play bilateral matches, but you can’t deny the ICC events as you already have signed it. India has to make solid ground. If India doesn’t come this time, Pakistan will take a big step by not participating in the tournament.”
