Vinesh Phogat’s cruel fate has stunned everyone in the Indian camp, which also led Antim Panghal to take the starvation route ahead of her bout in the Olympics.

Vinesh Phogat’s cruel fate has made everyone in the Indian camp even more conscious while also spreading more panic among them. On Friday, Aman Sehrawat, who won a bronze for India in the men’s 57kg category, India’s first medal in wrestling in the Paris Olympics 2024, lost nearly 5kg in just 10 hours before his medal bout. A fresh report has also revealed how Antim Panghal took a severe starvation route to pass the weigh-in ahead of her opening bout.

Antim Panghal starved herself for 48 hours to pass the weigh-in.

On Saturday, it was reported that Antim Panghal starved herself for 48 hours to pass the weigh-in cut on the morning of the preliminary round of the competition. She ate no food and only had a minimum amount of water, which made her body weak and dehydrated. She had found herself overweight for the weigh-in but had to manage the matter alone, as her dietician-sister Nisha wasn’t officially a part of the Indian contingent. She resolved to starve for two days straight, leaving her without energy for the opening bout, where she lost 0-10 against Turkey’s Zeynep Yetgil.

Aman Sehrawat lost 4.6kg in 10 hours.

After Vinesh Phogat was found 100 grams overweight hours before her final event in the women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling event, everyone in the Indian camp was found panic-stricken. Aman Sehrawat, who recently won a bronze for India in the men’s 57kg bout, taking no chances, lost 4.6kg in just 10 hours to qualify for the final bout.

Vinesh Phogat is currently waiting for the CAS to decide on her appeal to be given a joint silver.
