Another day, and another good news, comes for India from the Paris Olympics 2024. Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale clinched a bronze medal for India, making the medal tally of India three so far. Swapnil made history by winning bronze in the Men’s 50m rifle three-position event and became the first Indian to do so in the category.

This also became India’s third shooting medal and the third medal overall in the Paris Olympics 2024 after Manu Bhaker won a bronze in women’s 10m air pistol and Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won a bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

Kusale finished 451.4 points, only 0.5 short of silver medalist Serhiy Kulish at the point of elimination. The 28-year-old young talent from Kambalwadi, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra, has become the sixth male shooter from Indiato win an Olympic medal. The win is even more special for him because it is his maiden appearance at the Olympic Games.

He takes inspiration from MS Dhoni, who was a railway ticket collector early in his career. Swapnil Kusale has been competing in international events since 2012 and made his Olympic debut only this year at the Paris Olympics.
