The Indian woman was killed by her husband in the UK, who wanted dowry, says the report.

A 24-year-old Indian woman from Delhi who lived in the UK with her husband was killed. Her body was discovered hidden in the trunk of a car. The woman identified as Harshita Brella, 24 was killed by her husband in the UK because of a dowry dispute, reported news agency ANI.

Husband demanded more dowry, reveals a family member.

The deceased Harshita Brella’s elder sister Sonia Brella told ANI on Friday that Harshita’s husband Pankaj Lamba’s family demanded more dowry from them, despite them already having provided with gold and money during the wedding. Sonia alleged that she suspected her sister was murdered for dowry. She said, “Harshita married Pankaj Lamba on March 22 this year. We gave them a significant dowry, but Pankaj was still dissatisfied and continued demanding more from us.”

Harshita Brella’s body was discovered in the trunk of a car.

Harshita’s body was discovered on November 14 in the trunk of a car that had been driven from Corby to East London, where it was left parked in Brisbane Road, Ilford. Police are on a lookout for Pankaj Lamba for questioning in connection with her death. Her sister Sonia told ANI, “We received a call from a local police station on November 15, informing us that Harshita had been murdered. We were shocked, and when we tried calling both Harshita and Pankaj, their phones were switched off. When we informed Pankaj’s family, they didn’t seem concerned. That made us think Pankaj must have told his family about the murder.”

Harshita had filed a complaint against Pankaj.

In August this year, Sonia recounted that Harshita filed a complaint against Pankaj for abuse, after his family came to their home demanding dowry. Sonia said that her father had to sell property to meet their demands. In February, they had also fulfilled the dowry request. Sonia suspects that Pankaj has returned to India and is on a run, saying, “I am sure that Pankaj has fled from the UK to India and is hiding somewhere here. The UK police should also caution Indian police that they must arrest Pankaj if he is here.”
