Reports suggest that the actor-politician will be entering Rajya Sabha with the help of DMK.
The DMK has decided to allocate one of its four Rajya Sabha seats to Kamal Haasan’s party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). The actor-politician will soon make his entry into the Rajya Sabha, backed by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu.

The actor-turned-politician, backed by the ruling party DMK in Tamil Nadu, will enter Rajya Sabha. The MNM has already passed a resolution confirming Haasan’s nomination to the Upper House of Parliament. The actor’s political journey began in 2018 with a vision of alternative governance. On Tuesday, the DMK formally announced its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The three candidates are senior advocate P. Wilson, poet and writer Salma, and former minister SR Sivalingam.
Chief Minister MK Stalin said they had allowed one seat for Haasan’s party.
The President of the ruling DMK party in Tamil Nadu, and Chief Minister MK Stalin, said that the allocation of one seat to Haasan’s party is in keeping with an electoral pact with the MNM ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan has also been in the news for his remarks suggesting, “Kannada was born out of Tamil.” The remark he made during the promotion of his upcoming film, Thug Life, in Chennai has drawn strong criticism from political leaders and citizens in Karnataka.
