Kandivali blast: A gas cylinder blast occurred in Mumbai’s Kandivali, injuring many

Seven people thus far are injured in the gas cylinder blast in Mumbai’s Kandivali East area.

A tragic incident of a gas cylinder blast happened on Wednesday morning in theKandivali East area of Mumbai, which led to the injuries of seven people. The blaze erupted at 9.05 am in the shop at Ram KisanMestriChawl, beside Akurli Maintenance Chowki on Military Road in Kandivali (East).

On Wednesday morning, a gas cylinder blast in the Kandivali East area of Mumbai led to six women and a man suffering serious burn injuries. This occurred when a fire broke out at a shop following the blast, according to civic officials. Three of the people suffered nearly 90 per cent burns, they said. The official also said that the fire was confined to the electric wiring, installations, edibles, LPG cylinder and gas stove in the single-storey shop. As per the officials, it left seven people injured. He said, “The blaze erupted due to a gas cylinder blast.”

Injured people were shifted to Kasturba Hospital for further treatment.

Those who suffered burns were first taken to the BDBA Hospital. The injured people are Raksha Joshi (47), Durga Gupta (30), both with 85 to 90 per cent burns, and Poonam (28), with 90 per cent burn injuries. They were later transferred to the Kasturba Hospital for further treatment, according to civic officials. The other injured people, admitted to the ESIC Hospital, have been identified as Nitu Gupta (31), with 80 per cent burns, Janaki Gupta (39) and Shivani Gandhi (51), both with 70 per cent burns, and ManaramKumacat (55), with 40 per cent burns, they said.

Four fire engines and other fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the spot, and the blaze was extinguished by 9.33 am, said an official.
