Kolkata rape-murder case: Colleagues of the deceased doctor revealed how she spent the last hours

The victim used to stay at a hotel, but for the past year, she commuted to work from her home.

Some revelations have been made by the colleagues of the victim, who was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. They revealed the grueling schedule hours of the victim before her death. They said that the deceased doctor was a focused individual and was known for her punctuality.

They said that the victim used to stay at a hostel. But, for the past year, she commuted to work from her home, which was on the outskirts of Kolkata. She reported to work at 10 am at the OPD of the hospital on August 8 and was assigned to unit 2A. She admitted six patients that day, as reported by TOI. She had lunch after 3 pm in the sleep room. A colleague said, “She came in after 3 pm and had her food in the sleeping room next door where we usually eat. She was a little reserved but very focused.” He said he left the hospital at 4.30 pm, instructing her to call him if any patient’s health deteriorated. He added, “The call never came, and the next morning, I learned of her gruesome death.”

A junior colleague reveals details.

Her junior colleague said he met her in the corridor of the hospital hours before the crime. The trainee doctor recalled, “Didi was dashing to the ward when I bumped into her in the corridor. We exchanged pleasantries, and she said she had a lot of work in the ward.” At midnight, she had dinner and took a round of the ward. At 2 am, after 16 hours of working, she retired to the seminar hall and was found dead in the morning in the hospital.

Police have arrested Sanjay Roy, a Kolkata police civil volunteer, for the crime. In the CCTV footage, he was seen entering the seminar hall at 4.03 am, and his Bluetooth headset was found at the crime scene. During the polygraph test, he told the CBI that when he entered the seminar hall, the woman was already injured and unconscious.
