Written on Teacher’s Day, her mother expressed gratitude to her teachers, who helped her daughter achieve the dream of becoming a doctor.
Amidst massive protests and candlelight marches in Kolkata, a helpless mother who lost her doctor-daughter to a brutal and heinous crime of rape and murder, came forward to share an emotional letter. The mother of the victim of the Kolkata rape and murder case that happened at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital wrote a profoundly emotional open letter, as reported on India Today.
“I am the mother of the deceased…”
On Teachers Day, the mother of the deceased doctor wrote an open letter, expressing, “I am the mother of the deceased… Today, on Teachers’ Day, I honor all the teachers on behalf of my daughter. Since childhood, her dream was to be a doctor, and you were the inspiration behind that dream. Because of great teachers like you, she was able to realize her dream of becoming a doctor.”
She shared a conversation about her daughter’s motivation.
Sharing a conversation about her daughter’s motivation, she said, “My daughter used to say, ‘Ma, I don’t need money. I just want to earn many degrees and help as many patients as possible.’” She also recounted her daughter had treated several patients on the day of the attack but was tragically raped and murdered while on duty.
“Her dreams were brutally strangled…”
The mother said, “Even that day when she left the house, she served many patients in the hospital. But her dreams were brutally strangled. Her goal of becoming an MD gold medalist, planned that very night, was cut short. Even after this horrific incident, steps were taken by hospital authorities and the administration to destroy all evidence.” A diary was found near the doctor’s body, which revealed her ambition of winning a gold medal and other prestigious honors in her medical career.
The mother seeks justice.
The mother, seeking justice, said, “As her mother, I respectfully ask all medical teachers, doctors, health authorities, and nursing staff to come forward with any information or evidence about the incident. The silence of good people only empowers criminals.”
There are accusations that the crime scene was altered to cover up evidence; however, the Kolkata government denies this.
