After KKR thrashed CSK in a recent match at Chepauk, Kaif highlighted MS Dhoni’s future.
Recently, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk Stadium in IPL 2025. Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif speaks about MS Dhoni’s CSK future amidst a string of losses for CSK. The team was restricted to just 103/9 in 20 overs during their match against KKR on Friday.
Mohammed Kaif raised questions about CSK’s future.
Following CSK’s crushing 8-wicket defeat to KKR on Friday, Mohammed Kaif took to X to question CSK’s direction and future. In the post, he wrote, “Is this Dhoni’s last season? The way CSK’s season is going, is the time right for a change? Last question: Why give a slow pitch at home when the rivals have spinners like Narine and Varun?” The statement came after MS Dhoni was made captain of CSK, and regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was ousted from the tournament due to an elbow injury.
CSK’s poor batting performance in IPL 2025.
There was a dip in performance in terms of batting from CSK. Despite a strong start from Devon Conway, CSK didn’t find its rhythm. Moeen Ali took Conway’s wicket, after which all went south for CSK. Rachin Ravindra fell soon after, and so did Vijay Shankar. The slide continued with Tripathi bowled by Moeen.
Kolkata Knight Riders chased the lowest-ever IPL total this season in just 10.1 overs, with Sunil Narine making 44 off 18 balls.
