The accused, Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, was arrested after two days.

The Mumbai hit-and-run case that happened in Worli, which led to the killing of a 45-year-old woman, had its accused absconding. However, Mihir Shah, the accused, has now been arrested by the police after two days of the accident. Mihir Shah is the son of Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena leader and a close aide of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Mihir Shah surrenders to the police.

Mihir Shah surrendered to the police after absconding from the crime scene two days ago. According to sources, he surrendered on Tuesday, July 9, with his lawyer by his side. A police officer said, “We have apprehended Mihir, and the process of getting him to Mumbai is underway.” The police have detained the accused from Virar in Palghar district.

Anil Deshmukh, NCP leader, commented on the case.

Anil Deshmukh, NCP leader (Sharadchandra Pawar) and former Maharashtra Home Minister said arresting Mr. Shah two days after the accident would weaken the drunk driving case against him. He said, “Mihir Shah was arrested after two days. Everyone knows that he was sitting in a bar and consuming alcohol, after which he ran over the woman with his car. Now, if they take his blood sample for an alcohol test, it will be negative. This would benefit him in the court as only negligence in driving charge will be applicable.”

Vice Global Tapas Bar in Juhu is sealed.

The state’s Excise Department sealed Vice Global Tapas Bar in Juhu and questioned the owner and staff. Mihir was at the bar with his friends on Saturday night, and CCTV footage shows him exiting it. The legal age to consume alcohol in Maharashtra is 25, but police records show that he is 23.

On Sunday, Mumbai police issued a Look Out Circular and formed six teams to trace the main accused. The police booked Mihir for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, endangering the life and safety of others, causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information, and causing damage of over Rs. 20,000 through mischief under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
